The Eurogroup
The Eurogroup is an informal association of the defense ministers of Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. Created in 1968, the Eurogroup attempts to achieve closer European cooperation within NATO.13 It has served to foster security interdependence among the members through the European Defense Improvement Program and the Independent European Program Group (the latter includes France). Most of its efforts have been directed toward the achievement of multilateral ventures in research and development of weapon systems, communications, logistics support, training projects, and procurement.14
